UPDATED: 1:33 pm CDT September 7, 2008

The Wal-Mart Foundation has donated $369,000 to research in biofuels at Arkansas State University.

The money will be used by the university's Arkansas Biosciences Institute to meet the cost-share requirement of a federal grant to the school.

The Biosciences Institute conducts research into the use of Arkansas' farm and forestry resources for biofuels that can be used commercially.

The Wal-Mart Foundation grant will support research on making ethanol from plant stalks and leaves, agricultural residues and forestry residues.
