Damon Maloney, Reporter

Damon Maloney joined the 40/29 News Team in June 2008 after graduating from Columbia College Chicago, with a degree in broadcast journalism.

He was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but is excited to experience the wonders of the Natural State.

"Northwest Arkansas is a beautiful region of the country with a lot of good-spirited and hard-working people," he said.

Damon's interest in news began in elementary school, and after attending a high school journalism camp he realized that storytelling was what he wanted to do for a living.

During high school Damon was a host/reporter for a teen news magazine show, seen on Minneapolis/St. Paul's KARE-TV. While interning in the special projects unit at WCCO-TV, in Minneapolis/St. Paul, he learned research and development skills for specialty long-format reporting.

Damon was on the scene of Northern Illinois University, after a gunman went on a deadly campus-shooting spree. His reports appeared on the Associated Press and Open Student Television Networks websites.

In 2005, Damon was awarded the national Carole Simpson Scholarship from the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation (RTNDF).

One of his most memorable interviews was with legendary entertainer Diahann Carroll.
